Just a quick note to let you know that the Freebooksy Author app that allowed authors to set up a virtual Amazon bookstore on their Facebook page is no longer being supported by Facebook or Freebooksy.
I sent an email to Freebooksy asking about the problem and they replied,
“Due to changes that Facebook has made, the app is not currently working as it should. We have removed the link as we don’t want authors to try install an app that won’t work. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
There was no word on whether or not they were working to fix the app, or if it is even possible. In light of this, I am currently recommending that all authors set up a “shop” tab on their Facebook page and put your books, online courses, and other products directly in your store where visitors can buy directly from Facebook.
This is actually a better option for authors as the shop tab is movable and may be dragged up into the top position on your Facebook page so visitors can see your books right under your cover photo and buy directly from your Facebook page. With the Freebooksy app visitors had to click on a link to open the page.
If you’re interested in learning how to set up your shop tab (and the rest of your page) to sell more books, I have an inexpensive online course that will walk you through it step-by-step. The course also walks you through the basics of setting up a content system that will get you maximum page engagement. The course was done before the Freebooksy app was disabled so there is some info in the course on that app you can just disregard.
The $49 course can be paid for in two payments if you like and includes seven videos. There is a link below to find out more and see what other authors who have taken the course say. As with all my online classes, the emphasis is not on just giving you the right information, but in practical action steps that will help you apply what you are learning. Just a warning: there is homework to apply what you are learning. You’ll also have access to my private student Facebook group.
