Loved this. This is the first time I have ever listened and I was directed to your podcast from Christopher Graham, The Story Reading Ape!

Yes groups can be a conundrum. Group members can add friends to groups – it’s a Facebook thing. Admins may have to okay them as in closed groups. Non-admins cannot add people in secret groups however. Most groups authors are in are closed groups so those rules apply. You shouldn’t be able to automatically add people to a group unless the group doesn’t require admin approval as in a public group. Interesting.

  • Something I’d love to see is Facebook giving us the ability back to ‘invite’ people to a group without automatically adding them. Some people seem to have this ability but not everyone. I get invitations once in a while but I mostly get automatic adds to groups that I have no interest in. For the groups I administer, I can’t invite anyone at all unless I post to them with a link. An invite button instead of an add button would be amazing!

Thanks for letting us know. I was wondering what you used, so it’ll be great to be able to check this out! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

Thanks for that helpful info Jebraun. I loved your video and it’s good to know there are tools available that are easy to use and easy on the pocketbook. I have also used Adobe Spark and Animoto for videos as well.

Thanks for the shout out, Chris and Becca! Great changes to make Facebook a better tool for authors, and I appreciate all the info you shared about FB groups too.

BTW I used lumen5.com, which is a free website, to put together the video for my author page. I pulled stock photos from stocksnap.io and used music from lumen5. One thing to keep in mind if you use this site is the video produced ends up too tall to fit on the FB cover area. Only the top, middle, or bottom 2/3 is visible (you can shift it up or down to place it where you want it), so keep that in mind as you choose your images and text.

Again, fabulous podcast. I will definitely check out more!
